The player needs to put the ball down at least a yard in front of where he is going to snap. Proper stance is very essential in long snapping. The player should line the ball up and make sure that both his body and ball are facing each other and ball is centered with regards to the middle portion of his body. A good foundation is very important for effective long snapping. The feet should be apart from each other at a distance of 5-6 inches more than the shoulders of the long snapper.
